With my horrible sore throat last week, I was at wit's end trying to figure out what I could do with my Level 2 kids. I knew that if I just sat in class and let them do their own thing would spell C-H-A-O-S. So I was like "What am I going to do?" Thank God for the good old fashioned game of Hangman. Whoever invented this game sure is appreciated by me.
I got one cocky kid to come to the board to be the "Halim". The class was divided into two teams; students and me.
Ss: Ha, ha tee-chuh kesian sorang! Kalah nie olih kami.
T: Sorry lah..! *cough* teacher berdegree kali ah *cough*
Ss: Yeaaaaa!!!!
"Halim" writes on the board:
Pelakun Amerika
_ _ _ _ _ _
Before I could answer, one kid yelled "Mr. Bean!"
Halim: Ya betul!
The mistake should've given me an inkling of what was going to happen.
Penyanyi Amerika
_ i _ _ _ _ _ _p_ _ _ _
"Britney Spears!" yelled another. "Galprenku kali tu ah!" Again I did not bother to correct the mistake.
_ _ _ o o _ _
"Saya putar Halim!" I scratch my head wondering who the singer is.
"Madonna!"
"Ya betul! Saya beri lagi satu soalan."
_ _ _ _ _ w_ _ _
Before I could answer, another boy jumped from his seat and started breaking into a song.
"Ya betul!" And "Halim" wrote on the board- Shand Ward. Kids broke into applause and "Woooooo!!!"
Needless to say, I lost the game. I had to forfeit my small plastic bag of candies to "Halim". I never thought a person with a degree in English could lose to a level 2 kid. The moral of the story is- get some kids on your team too!
