To my students I am more than just a teacher. I am a walking talking dictionary, specifically kamus dwi-bahasa with Bruneian slang included.
S: Teecha, "membuat" cakap English apa?
T: Making. Atupun kamu inda tau buliiiiiih!
S: Apa kan teecha?
T: Making.
S: Ah?
T: Maaaa....kiiiiiing!
Five minutes later
S: Teecha, "membuat" cakap orang putih apa?
T: Eh making bah! making!
S: Making teecha?
T: AWUUUU! Making! (voice raised in annoyance)
Ss: Ha, ha, ha!
Then a boy raise his hand.
S: Teecha sebenarnya durang atu sengaja.
T: Sengaja?
Ss: Ehem, ehem!
Then the well-mannered, si gaban raise his hand again.
S: Teecha, durang atu sebenarnya sengaja tu. Iksin chia inda tau.
Turns out that "making" is a euphemism for ehem ehem and the kids wanted me to say it again and again because they found it funny.
Too bad this dictionary is an old edition!
