Pisang Kaling

A couple of weeks ago I was on a prowl for pisang kaling. Only at that time, I had forgotten the name.

By coincidence, I was at Little India or Delima Jaya where I saw this guy sitting at the parking lot selling fruits.

"Pakcik ada kita pisang damit?" At first he scratched his head. An Indian guy approached his bench with a cigarette in his hand.

I repeated my question. Then he clicked.

"Aaaah! Atu pisang kaling tu lai. Mana ku ada bajual!"

I was so mortified when he said it loudly in the presence of an Indian. He even repeated the word again & again. I was like "Shit! What am I going to do if the Indian besides me goes beserk?" I was glued to the spot, waiting for the Indian guy to give the hawker a stern lecture but when I looked at the Indian, he was actually laughing. He laughed so hard that his cigarette kept falling down again and again. Maybe he couldn't control his laughing so he went off somewhere to light his cigarette.

Pisang Kaling. Who came up with that word?
