One side of the fence say that this kind of speech has benefits but the other believe that we should talk to kids like they're adults. Using baby talk with students sound condescending but my thought on it was "So what? They're kids. I'm an adult."
T: Shorty, can you please do your work?
S: Ngantuk ku cher.
T: OOOOOOhhh, yoooooooooooooor maaaaaaaaaaaami deeeeeeeedn't tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhck yooooooooooou in bed lahssss niiiight?
T: Shorty, break is over!
S: Lapar bah Cher.
T: Ooooooooooooo, yooooooooooooor maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaami deeeeeeeeeedn't coooooook yooooooooou byeeeekfehrs (breakfast) diiiiiiis mooorning? Shiaan jua laaaaai(kesian).
One day while waiting for mum, I saw this figure jumped out of the car next to me and raced till he was out of my sight.
It was Shorty in shorts! Wow, what an opportunity to tease him. So I jumped out of my car too. Sure enough, Shorty was walking in my direction in his Spiderman shirt and shorts. I was about to open my mouth when the lady next to him said to me, "Caaaaaaaaaaaariiiiii maaaaaaaaaaaaaami mooooooooo laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaai?"
I nodded in confusion.
"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaalaaaaaaaaaaaaap udaaaaaaaaaaahnya diiiiiiiii ataaaaaaas aaaaaaaaatu."
I went livid when the lady used baby talk with me especially her choice of words which hinted that I am a needy child and someone who is afraid of the dark.
She made me feel like this:

And not this:

"Roooooooooopaaanya laaaaaaaaaai kaaaaaaaaau aaaangi guuuuuuuuuruuuu anaaaaaakku."
And it turned out that she's mum's secretary. Hence the baby talk.
Needless to say, Shorty laughed his head off and so I learnt my lesson.
