Happy Teachers' Day

Kinda late. Been busy doing this and that. No time to even post a picture to go with this post.

No presents this year. The last present I got was around two years ago! And I still use it.

It's okay though cause sometimes you get presents and you don't know what to do with them. When I first started teaching, a student of mine who was quite annoying gave me a present. And if that wasn't awkward enough, she gave me a lipstick holder. A lipstick holder. Gee, I really scratched my head thinking about what I was going to use it for. Perhaps the girl needed glasses. I never wore lipstick.

"Udah teecha pakai?"

"Au udah. Tengkiu." I didn't have the heart to tell her that I had given it to my sister and ask her to do something useful with it. I didn't want to throw it away.

A lipstick holder. My first Teachers' Day present. My friend got a big present. Out of curiosity, we opened it in the staffroom.

I don't know any word in the dictionary to describe her face. It was like she was laughing, crying and gasping for air at the same time.

"What is it?"

"Eeeh...perimpan. Ha, ha!"

"Perimpan?"

"Frying pan bah!"

Everybody laughed their ass off. At least it was more useful than the gift I got (not meaning to sound ungrateful).

"What is he trying to hint? Mantang2 aku baru kawin! Ertinya aku inda pandai masak kali atau ia minta masakkan?"

"Unjung2 perimpan mamanya! Baik ko balikkan krg marah mamanya!"

"Ha, ha. Kurang asam kau!"

"Tambah tia lagi asam!"

My friend rolled her eyes at me.

"He, he. Taun ani perimpan. Taun dapan lasung batu."

"Ah tau ku udah apa gunanya. Untuk melatuk kepala urg loyar buruk!"

After that, I shut up.

Happy Teachers' Day and to that boy, batah udah tu ko membari perimpan ah. Masih ko beutang teacher mu lasung batu sama untuk taun ani, blender.

Tambahi lagi asam arah teecha mu sorang ani. Cuba try.
